This is my first stand up and I was going to reprint the stock pole(the yellow is ugly). I noticed it was cracked at the bottom.
This is more or less just a temporary fix until I have the spending cash for a AM pole.
So in the mean time I had the materials to fix and decided I would share how it went.
First off here's the crack! Was cracked through and through.
So i pulled out the dremel and the fiberglass repair kit and got to work.
I started out by taking a small wheel on the dremel and grinding out the crack. Then took a rounded bit and tapered out the groove some.
I then took a thickened epoxy mix and filled in the deep part of the groove.
Now it is time to glass. I put 2 layers of glass over each side to build up some extra material to work with.
At this point it was about 1:00 in the morning so I called it a night to let this side dry.
The next morning I flipped it over and did the same process on the other side.
First making a deep groove to fill in as much as possible. And then tapering out to layer up some glass.

I again layed 2 layers of glass on this side. I made these ones bigger as I will be leaving most of the material as reinforcement.
Now this is by no means a "permanent" fix but should hold very well. I'm new to stand ups so I'm not going to be any crazy tricks anytime soon. The pole will likely snap in half before my fix gives out.
I will upload the finished product when I am done painting it. I will be experimenting with Appliance epoxy paint and will see how that turns out.
Now what are some good AM poles I should look into getting? I will eventually be upgrading this pole but can't justify spending $1000 on a RRP pole when that's about what I spent on the entire ski. What are some good budget friendly poles to go with?
