Building up 2 ski's for the first time, and noticed something that I really don't understand. When putting the stock head gasket on a Kawi 750, I noticed that most of the water jackets are covered up by the gasket, with only a couple smaller holes to allow water to flow through the gasket into the head. I assume this is normal? It was a Weisco gasket made for the 750.
If so, then o-ring head must get a tremendous amount of water through them, correct? Nothing is blocking the flow up from the water jackets inn the cylinder.
Why woudn't the stock gaskets allow more waterflow? If the stock gasket were modified to open up the flow from the water jackets, I would assume the head and cylinder would run cooler, making more power, no? Should/could they be modified, or left alone?
Thanks for helping me understand this.
