Well 730cc @ 175psi is definately modded so it would be hard to make a comparison.

I'm not sure, but I know I'm not changing my carb/carbs until its necessary.

ive heard it improves the performance but on what engine is my questions... i dont want to mod my engine beyond, pipe head etc if i dont have to. and if a carb gave me that better throttle response and a bit more low end i would be really happy. just dont know much about carb setups

I'm waiting to hear back from Full Spec for some jetting recommendations, and I'm gonna try it on my 701 with 61x cases. I have ported mine though. It's got a b pipe limited, 175 compression, MSD enhancer and lightened flywheel. We'll see if it makes a difference. I just have to port match the intake to the carb.

Good porting is a reliable mod and it's going to be much cheaper than buying a full spec single plus manifold and flame arrestor. It'll cost you about half as much to do porting.....unless you're getting a super deal on a used setup.

If it's a 48 Full Spec, the jetting recommendation will be 2.5 N&S w/115g spring, 135 pilot, 145 main.

Works like a charm.

I saw where you posted that in the 'carb database' thread. I think you were using a 760 62T cylinder though. I was probably gonna start with that jetting if I didn't hear back from Ed by the time I was ready to put the carb on there. My carb is a 49 though.

T, X, doesn't matter.

I use that very same jetting on both of the following engines (identical carbs, that is the only identical component on both engines)

Ported T-cases, ported 760 X cylinder, 175psi compr, B Mod
Ported X-cases, ported 760 T cylinder, 140psi, B-limited

Identical jetting.
However, the 49 will be a bit different (larger jets)

Well I'll just try that then. The season is getting short, so I didn't want to waste too much time tuning. I also have a non ported 701 with T cases sitting at home that I'll eventually drop in there with the Full Spec on a ported Riva manifold. Might put the ported X cylinder on there to see if my porting did any good. Then I have a LPW big bore I gotta get pistons and domes for so I can try that.

Sorry for the thread jack. I'd get porting done before spending 600 or 700 on a new carb setup.
