So today I was moving my superjet and it was way to heavy??? Almost felt like it weighed more then the sxr, weird right......So I took the turf off to see how the footholds were holding up. They looked fine, Glass still looked fine? So next I drilled two small holes in the footholds put it back on the traylor and lifted as high as it would go, Guess what??? Yea all kinds of water leaked out of the holes I had drilled. Anyone ever have this problem, Where could the water be getting in???

It's fairly typical of a ski after several years thanks to the factory's spotty sealing technique.

You could have 20-30lbs of water in there honestly.

Do a search for 'defoaming' or 'refoaming'.

It's not a fun job but well worth it in the end.

Where could the water be getting in???

i recently refoamed and i had water leaks at every concivable place that could leak, cooling lines, steering tube, driveshaft tube, exaust tube, strap bolts.
i had a bunch of sand in there too!
im very happy with how it turned out though, its a super solid ski. i used a full caulk tube of 5200 to seal everything up, inside and out. i also reinforced the sides, back, and chines with fiberglass with carbon fiber on the exaust tube side. filled the bondrail also...:Banane13:

No way!

I found mine was leaking arround the driveshaft tube. pull the foam and go crazy with a couple bottles of 5200. It sux, but is a good opportunity to reinforce the back area.

I weighed all the parts of my ski when I refoamed 2+ years ago and came up with around 20-25lbs drop in weight. It really felt it when I rode it too, much lighter.

I know of a few other people that had the same experience too.

I used a shopvac to suck up all my wet foam when I redid mine. I put it in garbage bags and it weighed in at 32lbs, subtract about 4 lbs for the actual foam, i roughly figured 28lbs of water.

The really interesting thing was that the foam never did release any of the water even after a few months of sitting around. I put in drain plugs but if the foam doesn't release the water then what good are they?

I'm getting ready to chop out a section of the ski for a refoam job. I took a couple pics of where I think I should cut? Any advice before I start cutting would be great!

looks fine to me... just be careful you dont plunge the grinder into your exhaust tube when you cut near that area and you should be fine

gonna want to go further back with the cut on the bottom, reaching the foam and sanding in the back corners is the worst part.
