If it's not one thing, it's another...

Broke the steering cable... again. second time in less then a year. :banghead:

I route the cable in such a way that there is a minimal of bends... Don't understand. :frown:

In any event, I am in need of replacement. The local shop that rebuilt mine refuses to do it again which is quite a dissappointment to me.

I Rather buy brand new unless the price was right. XFT has one, Blowsion has one... Where else? Getting one here by this weekend is now out of the question, but hopefully mid next week.

Andrew

Parkeryamaha.com sells new OEM Roundnose cables for 75 bucks or so.

Are you using an aftermarket steering? Is it busting in the same place? I assume the top end of the cable, getting bent?

$75 is not to bad... But would it be better to pick one up from Blowsion or XFT that might take more abuse? I do not know as I have not seen anything reported on them.

Keeps breaking in the center (metal twine inside the sleeve). However, the top end of the cable was bent BAD, along with the pivet bolt on the steering plate.

I have a UMI steering setup.

I wish it broke at the top... I would have a local source weld it up real quick.

Make sure that your steering stop is stopping the turn plate - you don't want steering movement to stop before it hits (this will bend it).

So Blowsion sells a Non-OEM steering cable that's supposedly tougher? :dunno:

It is listed on there site with a very breif description.

I will double check the Steering stop when the new cable is in place... Thanks for the tip :cool2: I am using an XMW pole with the UMI steering.

OEM all the way for me when it comes to cables. I get years of service if they are installed correctly and not subjected to extreme bends or stress.

OEM it is ladies.

Parker Yamaha seems to have the best cost (plus I have ordered from them before with good luck).

Thanks all for the time and responses. :cheer:
