Before the mocking. In NZ I don't have the available parts accessible and ordering from the US takes time.
Summer here has a few weeks left of hot riding weather remaining so a month of freight time has to be scheduled for winter rebuild season. (When I am drooling over all you folks lapping up the sunshine)
This old ski has been pretty beat up over the years so it will enjoy a bit of a birthday after the riding season a has finished.
Anyway, I received a cable from a very generous member, which I appreciated very much, but it was not exactly right so had to figure a way to get it to work. I had 48 hours to get it done as my wife had invited some friends to visit for the weekend.
3 Criteria.
1 - Had to work. e.g. watertight, steer correctly & be reliable
2 - Has to be safe for anyone using it
3 - Has to be fully reversible so when I buy a new cable I can undo all changes and fit the correct cable.

Turns out the thread into the hull of an FX1 is the same as standard 19mm plumbers nipplebar. Which I had.
Threaded it into the hull. Added a thick rubber washer and a plastic nut to seal the hull.
Drilled the cap. Made a clamp washer to hold the cable in place inside the nipple bar and added plenty of silicone.
The handlebar end was also broken so had to add a bracket to hold the top.

Result: Awesome. $20 worth of parts. Worked really well and no leaks.
Have two FX1's now and they were both out. No difference between them.
