Stator replacement

It's in a 650 SJ. I've never messed with the stator before. How difficult would it be to replace a single coil on the stator assembly? What all would be involved with it? is it just screwed to the back plate and a wire connection or two? If so, how difficult is it gonna be to make the new wire connection to the new coil?

I haven't tested it yet, but I swapped in a known to be working CDI and coil and it was still not getting spark. I have also disconnected the kill switch. I very much suspect one or all of the coils on the stator have punched their own ticket. If it turns out just one has gone bad I would like to only have to replace that single coil as it seems to be a lot cheaper to just replace the coil itself rather than replacing the entire unit.

Thanks

the specs are posted as well as the schematic so you can use an ohm meter to test for resistance thru the various coils and get a pretty good idea if they are workable or not.

Other wise, its simple remove the broke coil, and resolder a known good coil in its place.

coils of that vintage though, are well, OLD.

the varnish used to insulate the windings breaks down after so many years and heat cycles.

I think ive seen the indivdiual coils for sale from jet-world...

Yeah, I just found the specs to test each coil in another thread and I've found replacement coils for around $35 a piece. Thanks for the info.
