Standup mileage

I've been playing with google earth, estimated mileage on a couple ski's, haven't taken into account what throttle setting, chop, etc...)

Rough estimates:

Stock SJ650: 26mi
Piped FX1: 20mi
Piped ported SXR: 15mi

I'd like to go farther; may need to wedge some aux tank(s) in the stocker...

Anyone tried to enlarge stock tank? (Boiling water + air pressure?) Any other ideas?

you could weld one out of aluminum. I think legdragpete did that on his new x2.

I'd love to have a piece o crap pontoon with a grill, cooler, plenty of room for gas can's and some hotties to drive / maintain it... maybe even a ramp on the back to tow ski's on... would be sweet but don't sound cheap.

its not cheap, but it would be cool. btw, every boat has a purpose, it just may not be nearly as fun as a standup

Man you will be worn ass out after 26 miles of anything much more than chop.

Maybe you could find a rectangular shaped plastic tank that would hold 1.5 gal or so that would fit behind the main tank. You could put a pickup tube in it and use a stock gas petcock switch to cut over when you run out the main tank. I wonder if Clarke products would have something that would work? They have made oversize tanks for dirt bikes for years.
