FX-1 Sponson mounting location

Bit the billet and bought some destroyers( before the recommendation for the Tom 21 tubbies)

Any guidelines on where to mount these? I mainly chase wakes and free ride. I wouldn't mind being able to take longer rides either. Now it's almost impossible to cruise. Trying to keep up with buddy's is hard work on this thing because of the handling. It's either balls out or brapp brapp

I would mount them where they contour to the hull best.

flush up to the bond line or flush with the edge of the bottom/side? or maybe between the two so theres a step?

i put my Tom21's right along the hull line...as in making the hull wider, they are back a lil farther then some do but i did that on purpose as the front end of the FX1 is always up in the air....so i wanted a wider hull....works great!

Tubbies will have less affect on handling the further up from the bottom of the hull they are. After i rockered my SJ, I just threw my Destoyers back up under the bond rail and didnt think anything of it. Ski wasn't handling near as good as before so I remounted them flush with the bottom and it completely transformed how the ski handled. I went from disliking the ride to loving it because the tubbies were an inch too high.

that's good to know. I ended up mounting then up to the bond line but the tubby is flush with the bottom at its widest part. totally transformed the ski. havnt had a chance to ride in flatwater yet but the helped a lot on the 2 foot chop in the river. here is a link I wrote up over on pwc: http://www.pwctoday.com/showthread.php?t=404031
