Sooty black smoke from exhaust...

Hey fx1 buddys , I installed a set of Boyesen duel stage power reeds to my fx1. (Standard engine apart from a pro tec exhaust.) Started it up on the trailer with the hose running , it ran fine but black oily/sooty smoke started to shoot out as I revved her up.... Is this anything to worry about , or just the exhaust clearing itself out... ?

I had that really bad on my SJ for a while. Almost sludge crap. I just had my carbs carefully tuned and it was just running a little too rich building up oil and other residues.

either carb is very rich or your needle/seat is possibly leaking

Not needles... The needle n seat inside carb

They are about $21 to replace

I had this problem but it was a bad CDI that was causing the ski to misfire and build up oil. If thats your problem you'll notice a major power lose
