I don't know about anyone else here, but I am WAY more careful out there in the water on my standup than on the couch. A lot of that has to do with watching for the couches so they don't run me over :banghead: Always watching my back. Point is, they won't get me for any "careless and imprudent" pwc riding on the stand-up, ever. Unless the wave jumping is a problem in their minds...

Back on topic now - in MO those letters would probably be grounds to get pulled over and warned at the least. I got that treatment once (they don't like shading black to red on a red machine ha ha).

I saw ''byron'' several times on lake of the ozarks this summer and I nevre got pulled over, that's crazy... Since I've been riding a pwc at our lake house at the 8mm I've been pulled over on a couch like 15 times, for stupid ******** most of the time.

Quite the opposite where I ride. When I used to ride my couch, I was stopped atleast once every 3 or 4 times on the water for safety cert. check. Haven't been stopped once on my standup. In fact, earlier this summer the cops rode right past me, ignored me and then proceeded to stop a few couches over the next few minutes, presumably to check for certs.

My guess is either they assume I have all my paperwork since I have the skill to ride a standup or they don't want to make me have to swim around and try to dig out my paperwork.

...and therein lies the problem. They watch standups pretty darn closely and the minute we jump a boat wake they get all wadded up. From there it's the whole routine with the "inspection" of your craft to determine if you are legal.

ya gotta come ride w/ us down here, chick! the coppers are busy with busting the meedas on the couches. some of our watercoppers give us wakes on flatwater days.

even if i was ever stopped by a cop, i'd ask them to ride on up to the shore line for me to present my papers. you can tell them that it's not safe for you to open up your hood. it might add some fuel to the fire, but i wouldn't care since i always have all the legal requirements.
