sn sj pole upgrade

new 2 the site and just built up a SN 94 SJ , i have a new blowsion handle pole bracket with a aluminium pole but would like to change the pole to something lighter and 2" shorter. Has any one fitted a round nose after market pole to a SN bracket or do you need to get a RN bracket to make it work.

as a quick fix so we could get out to wave rave last year a buddie and i took an x metal pole and mounted it to a square bracket so he could at least ride for the weekend...it didnt lift very high but it worked we just put a 3/8 inch spacer on each side of the pole...

do a search, its been done many different ways, round pole on a square bracket(easy, cheap, and requires a lil grinding of the SN bracket)

round pole on round bracket and the RN bracket just mounts on the hull with new bolt holes, a lil shim, and some reinforcement hopefully. (pole goes all thw way up with no problem, you keep the stock pole holder thing, and you can run two bolts to keep it tight)

You can get conversion brackets which is the best route, but more $$ about 130 is what ive seen, probably strongest way to go about it.

All mounting options usually change the hood hook location to be aware of that and make sure the new hooks secure tight when the hood meet the hull.

hey thanks for the info, sound like there are a few ways to do it .
I think i want to keep the SN bracket i have already forked out the cash for that and try to find a RN pole.
But what type of grinding on my bracket ,is th RN pole a little longer on the back end and that stops it from tilting all the way up?

a pic of pole and bracket as you can see i have all the springs i can fit to make it lighter
