I am still having problems with my superjet not wanting to start after I have been riding it. If I let it set for 5-30 minutes It will start up. It seems to happen almost every time the ski is shut of or I just let it idle and die. I rebuilt the carbs and the fuel pump.

UPDATE: 8/4/08
I rode around for 20-30 minutes yesterday. The ski was fine. I might have gotten a little water in there and the ski stuttered a couple times but It got over it. I took it back to shore let it sit for 1 minute and tried to start it - it didn't start I went and grabbed the tool box and popped in some new plugs and it still would not start. Also while putting the plugs in I noticed the motor seemed to be a little warmer than normal. It was not to hat to touch but it was close. I let the ski sit for 1-2 hours in the water and it still would not start. I took the ski out and put it on the trailer, still no start. While cranking it on the trailer there did seem to be a good amount of water coming out of the exhaust but I don't think that it was that unusual. I prob got a half gallon coming out just cranking it. I tried the ski again an hour after I put it on the trailer, still no start. I drove the ski home (45 minutes) and it started.

What I have tried so far:
Rebuilt both carbs and fuel pump
Added a primer
removed the hose from the tank vent

Last you my ski was top notch and the first few rides this year. Nothing was changed on it when this started happening. I really and getting tired of getting towed back...

wif4es ski did the same thing this weekend, it was the tank vent.
it was pinched under the battery, I moved the hose, and heard a sucking noise, and the tank started expanding ( it was sucked in)

also, disconnect the white/black connector at the E box, turn your idle down, and see if that fixes it.

My money is one or both of those issues.....

check the vent for closing properly, it should hold positive pressure in the tank.
if thats good, rebuild your carbs. mine need a rebuild my needles sticking i found this out when i tryed to pressurize the tank with the fuel line disconnected(to get some gas out of the tank[to start the ski{my primers broken}]) and it let pressure backwards through the return line.

Its not the tank vent for sure. I just went over that unless it is pinched some where in the pole (it does lead up the pole right?

So disconnecting the white black connector from the ebox does what? Is that your stop switch? I just want to know what I am getting myself into.

yes, black/white is kill circuit.

thats why I said turn your idle down too, so it dies when you let off the gas.

also, to make sure it isnt the vent line, disconnect the hose directly AFTER the one way valve.

then you know if that short section isnt pinched, and the valve itself works, ( you should only be able to blow thru it TOWARDS the tank) it must be the line in the pole pinched or dirt dobber in there or something.

It may be the stator. Ive seen this a few time with off-road bikes. You have to check it when it fails....when its hot. Longshot.

My old 650sx used to do that. It would crank right up when cold or just warm. Wouldn't restart for ******** unless it had sat for a while. I am voting for stator, or more specifically, the wiring in between the e-box and stator itself.

I am voting stator or coil. I have had similar issues and it was the coil. The kawi oem coils are cheaper than the Yamaha's.

I updated the thread the first post.

Matt where is the white black connector at? All I saw was all 4 wires (brown red black and white) going into the ebox.

I don't really have a lot of money to through at this thing right now so I need more ideas.

connector is about 10 inches from the E box, follow those black and white wires forward in the ski.. the connector is there, its very near the similar connector that is red/brown wires.

edit.

the connector itself is clearish plastic, it just contains the black and white wires...

Sounds like the same symptoms I had when the crank seals were bad on my old 550. It would start up cold fine and run normal. But If I shut it off for more than a minute or two I couldn't get it started again. I'd have to wait for the motor to cool for a couple hours before I could get it started again. It would start after a short shut down, but anything more than 2 or 3 minutes I had to wait until the motor cooled off completely.

I am hoping thats not the case here. Mine will not start 15 seconds after I shut it down.
