Ski Full of Premix

I installed a check valve on the breather of my 750sx (didnt have one) the other day and planned to replace fuel lines today
When I popped the hood today there was a 1/2 gallon of premix gas in the ski
Never had this happen. Is it possible that heating and cooling pressurized the tank and spewed gas from somewher (looks like it is around the carb)
Would it also fill the crankcase with gas? If so, how to get it out- treat it as a sunk ski (pull plugs and blow out?)
Used paper towels to remove gas from ski.
Putting in new fuel lines and filter today.
WTH???

the 750SX tank check valve is actually a small valve, in the fitting at the tank, where the hose goes on. you can remove it, and run a std in line check valve.

if you did not have a valve, your tank should not have been able to "build pressure" from heat conditions. either way, i would check your complete system. all hoses, lines, carb diaphrams, gaskets ect, leking fuel in the hull is scary!!!

hi john -
i got the new check valve from you a while back because the one in the tank didnt work and the tank never built pressure. i installed it mid week and had THIS happen when I went out to work on it this a.m. maybe it built pressure and a line started leaking?
I am putting on the new red-clear fuel lines I got from you and zip tying down tight all connections.
I will watch it.
Do you think it could have flooded the crankcase or blown the carb diphram as well?
TY!

it was probably an external leak that flooded the bilge. i would bet that theres no fuel in the crankcase too.

i had the same thing happen once. the system built up pressure from the afternoon sun and popped a small hose off of the primer. the tank *was* full. i went to start it one day, but i always remove engine covers before starting a ski that hasnt run in 12 hrs or more. when i opened it, my tank was EMPTY and the bilge was FULL of premix.

i learned 2 things. primer should go on the return side of the carb and stored skis should have the fuel cap loosened to stop pressure buildup.

i agree with charlie. i doubt there is any gas in your crank case.

yeah, i remember sending you that stuff now....

replace your lines, put clamps on EVERYTHING, and keep an eye on it.

just got back from the garage and I installed the primer fitting on the supply side like it was before :frown:

how big an issue is that?

thanks again!

so I ran it for short bursts through the day. put her out in the sun to make sure the tank pressurized. no leaks, so it must have been the old fuel line!
