Octane Ski bogs

2004 octane ran fine until last week
Ski barely idles and I have to feather the throttle to get it to go or else it just bogs itself off. then if i can get it to go it speeds up and runs fine, little bog if i let off throttle to coast . I hit 52 mph after it had took me 20min to get it to start. Ran it for an hour then as soon as I went to fire it backup had the same issue I checked all the things bellow and so far nothing has changed the issue

I have rebuilt carbs twice to make sure I didn't miss anything news gaskets also
changed the fuel filter
changed the plugs
checked compression 130 in both
dumped all the fuel and added new fuel
checked reeds perfect
Checked all fuel lines and vent line also pulse line. Also went as far as blowing them out to make sure there's was no obstruction
wondering if anybody else is having this issue.....
please help anybody. I'm now stuck riding my sit down
thinking it electrical .. I don't know. Only thing I can think of is to swap some parts out with my buds 02 and see what gets the ski to run

I had an intermittent bogging issue that took me a looonnnng time to resolve (Superjet). Typically it would run pretty good for a while, then I would land a trick and it would bog down so hard I could barely pull myself back up. I would feather the throttle, sometimes it would "catch" again after 20-30 seconds, sometimes not at all for the rest of the day. I rebuilt carbs, fixed exhaust leaks, changed the coil, CDI, on and on, in the end it turned out to be the stator. Replaced the stator and flywheel (went from 61x to 62T in the process) and jet skiing is fun again. Hope you get yours figured out soon!

It only bogs when I start it once im out and about ( if I can feather it enough ) I'm fine not really a issue but when your stuck for 15 min just trying to get it to leave shore real Pain in the butt.
So is there anyway of testin to see if stator is messed
it feels almost like its not getting enough spark at low rpm. Battery is fully charged when I go out.

You can pull the stator cover off and check for moisture in there.
I had a bogging issues with my Octane. Would idle fine but couldn't get on plane most of the time. I'd have to let the throttle off completely then slowly open it back up. Turned out to be the reeds. V-Force 2 reeds and the edges were cracking. Changed them and never had the problem again.

Had reeds off looked like. Brand new even took a pic of them.

Don't know anything about the Octane, but this thread was helpful for Yamaha if it is of any use to you http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/37800-Electrical-Ignition-System-trouble-shooting

Alright people update.
Well changed the entire cdi and coils spark plug wires everything that was connected to box it was all quick connects and well no luck it would not turn over. So poured fuel into carbs and fired right up. But as soon as she burned thrue it it would bog again. So check main fuel line and swapped out main fuel line for one with no fuel filter and see thrue and the pump is pulling fuel from tank so maybe there debris in fuel pump or in some intake port or the line that joins carbs??? Anybody got any ideals as to why carbs would not pick up fuel. They where just rebuilt might of missed something.

You might try removing the fuel pump pulse line at the carb and cranking the engine a few revolutions. If there is fluid in the line this should clear it out. Then hook it back up and see if it runs better. Sometimes fuel or oil in the line will prevent the pump from getting a good pulse. Also, make sure the pump is not just sucking air from the tank. If the fuel pick up, vent, and return hoses have been switched around at the tank it will not pick up fuel.

Took the pulse line off!!! Blew it with compressor nothing in it. Also checked fuel lines to make sure lines where not crossed. Still running like crap. Thinking its a port on carb that might have a slight block that moves around and allows it flow on some occasions

Just thought I might throw this out there... check to see if your 1 way valve on the gas tank is working properly. That might be a reason it's not getting fuel.

Edit; Nevermind... looks like you checked already.

Update
Well looks like I might have found the problem. Took the carbs apart and also the fuel line that joins the two carbs and then also took apart the fuel pump and put the compressor to it. Blew out the inner workings of the carb. Then put everything back together and now she starts right up seems like bog is gone. Only problem know is I don't have my trailer to go test it out in lake Ontario. My double trailer is at the shop getting my seadoo 10 hrs maintenance. So il give an update when I throw it in lake. Thanks to all u guys for lending a helping hand.

So what was the outcome? I am having bogging issues on mine. It sat this winter I rebuilt the carbs. Jetted them with the Watcon jets and 2.0 needle and seat. Now I have a rocket out of the holeshot, then when i let off to what would be considered an idle speed and go back on the throttle...It boggs and stalls. i suspect my low speed adjuster. however after messing with it for an afternoon, no luck. still boggs. anything above half throttle she runs great idle speed up to half runs like crap and stalls. Please feel free to chime in!! I have pulled the carbs and inspected the insides all clean and clear. hoses are ok and the fuel pick up is clean and sealed..please advise!! -JW

I found that the the low pilot jet has to be adjusted almost all the way out I got my low end adjustment three turns out and still she don't like to start when she's cold. I got to play with the choke to get it to go but once its hot it's fine. So will just adjust it out more.
I was told by john at watcon that u had to drill out the vent line when u re-jet so that it doesn't create a vacuum in tank! But I have not gotten my parts from John yet probably sometime this week. I found most of the time it's lack of fuel that has caused the bog issues.

Two things..?
1-You are running the stock choke setup or have you converted over to the wet primer?
2-Drill out what vent line? the vent on the fuel tank? is he referring to the oneway check valve on the pickup, where is it that you drill? I am curious as I have never heard of this. I am too having issues and would be willing to try if it works. Thanks -JW

1-ok yes i am running the stock choke setup i have not had any troubles or problems with it... other then this little hickup with the bog.
2-ok dont quote me on this but when i called john at watcon he was telling me about the check valve being drilled out..(i beleive) i wasnt paying the greatest attention but i remember him telling me that the tank would create some sort of vaccuum because of the increase in fuel consumption... but yah give him a call i can let u know more when my new jetting comes in from him... he said he had some jetting specs from the octane so give him a call and see if he can shed more light on that drilling let us know what u find out

in "some" cases when you lower the pop off, the pressure in the tank will cause needle and seats to pop off when the ski is sitting. in this case, you will "possibly" need to either remove the tank valve, or modify it.
