SJ steering cable

How hard is it to change a steering cable on a roundnose SJ .
Mine is bent and I straightened it out but I ordered a new one already .

Its not hard at all. There is a nut and washer at the back that you need to remove. Check out the parts finder at riviayamaha.com for a diagram....

You will probably have to pull the gas tank, but that's it. Just undo it at the top, unscrew the barrel, pull it out into the hull.

Remove the rideplate, remove the large white nut. There's a rubber stopper on the end and a white clip. Remove both, then you can pull the cable towards the bilge and out.

How'd you manage that? Putting on the XMW system without checking what the steering cable did? (I laugh because I did just that!)

I've had the steering plate on for a while now and just got the pole a few days ago .
Is there some kind of adjustment I need to do to prevent another bending
