im a little confused...

i pulled all my steering off my squarenose thinking i could just swap it to the roundnose pole.

am i missing something or do they not work the same? like the hole on roundnose pole is larger i think it was.

also...

theres that little ring with like "rollers" all the way around, mine looks pretty rusty/burnt. any suggestions on a new one?

If you got a bearing with rollers, I think that means you have a UMI system...in that case, it should be compatible.

But stock is not swappable.

well if anyone has a squarenose steer system. mine has 4 bolts that bolt the main piece to the pole with a back plate on the other side of the pole.

now that small piece that goes through the pole, the stem, is smaller than the pole hole. its like im missing a fitting or something

here are some pictures. the back plate for the sq pole has 4 bolts and the middle hole is smaller for the stem of the steering system (holds bearing...)

the round pole doens't have them? and the middle hole is a lot bigger?

Post pictures of the actual steering system. That looks like a UMI setup so far. In that case, you need to drill the four holes into the roundnose pole.

tapping 4 new holes, is that normal when setting up an a/m steering to a pole?

so after i tap some holes and bolt it down, theres just going to be that void between the center stem and the roundnose hole??

^^^^see the picture with my hand holding the stem in ^^^^

i just hate to think thats how it has to be... a fatty void between the steering mounting stem and the roundnose pole, and i basically eye ball the middle and tap 4 new holes. LLLAAAAMEE

It doesn't matter...the stock steering system mounts through the center hole. The UMI system uses the four holes - which you have to drill in both cases - and holds the shaft centered. WHat's the difference?
