SJ Starter in Grand Rapids....

Hey guys... my starter went out on my first night of vacation in pentwater  . Now I am back home and am hoping to get the ski running so I can go to wave rave this weekend. Anyone in GR got an extra starter laying around to sell, rent out, or lend? I hear that there is a place in coopersville that will rebuild them pretty cheap but I dont if I will be able to have it by wave rave if I take it there to get fixed. BTW how do I know if a starter is not rebuildable? I have another here that came in my spare parts bin when I bought the ski. It doesnt spin too smoothly though  does that mean its probably toast? How hard (and expensive) would it be to rebuild a starter myself?

most of the time, the starter needs to be disassembled, cleaned and put back together and youll usually get some more use out of it. how much use depends on the wear on the parts and how well you seal it back up when you reasassemble it.

you can try your other starter by hooking a battery directly up to it and see if it has enough strength to cut through a piece of wood.

you might end up using the 2 starters to make one good one.
