SJ must be possessed

SO I finally finished my SJ build and fired the motor for the first time:arms: :arms:

I have a problem though :banghead:

The ski runs great with the hood off and on the hose, it fires quickly and has good throttle response...but when I take it off the hose and put the hood on, it won't idle at all. It acts like it's starved for air, so I check the air intakes on the hood to make sure they were flowong and they seem to be fine. I thought maybe it's running way to rich but with the hood off it gets plenty of air to stay running but if that were the case I would think the throttle response would be terrible.

This is a '90 squarenose that I put a 701 in. I bought the motor from yamasaki so if he is reading this he can give some back ground. It is a 62t case 61x jug motor (tagged 64v), It has a rec port job, greater yamaha girdle head, dual 44's with riva intake, vforce carbon fiber reeds, and ocean pro vortex flame arrestors and I''m running a mod B-pipe. Current Jetting is 125 pilot, 110 main, and 2.0 ns 95 gram springs. I currently have the screws 1 turn out on both high an low speeds.

Any thoughts or ideas would be very helpful.

THANKS!!

yeah, sounds like an exhaust leak. when you shut off the engine and let all the outside smoke clear, take off the hood and see if theres any smoke around the engine.

also, make sure youre not pinching any fuel lines when you put the hood on.

Thanks for the response guys. The hood is not modified at all. I know there is a hood mod out there but I haven't done it to my ski. I did have an exhaust leak at one point but fixed it and I didn't notice any other leaks. I will double check it just to be sure.
