Our hosting company says
Vbshout
Effective immediately any client using vbshout with vbulletin needs to turn it off. We have noticed in the last week that this is killing numerous servers. Seems the script has been written with bad code.

If we find it on the server we will kill it.

www.realwebhosting.com, very highly rated but apparently he's saying their servers are being loaded up by the shoutbox being poorly written. The vbulletin guys are looking into it, I'm looking into other options but hope the shoutbox can come back.
