Should lumps of metal be coming out of my B-Pipe?

I've been having some water flow problems through my B-pipe, and after flushing every which way I started to pull things apart to find the problem. Luckily I found it right away: I removed the water fitting from the front of the head pipe (the one that goes to the stinger/pisser), and there was a blockage right there. After some digging I pulled out a lump of metal, that has me a little concerned.

The lump is just small enough to squeeze through the NPT thread, and is definitely from a casting (it's very light weight). It's more or less an irregularly shaped sphere which is flat on one side. Now, either someone shot my pipe and I just pulled out the bullet, or I have some errant casting flushing through the system. I don't have my camera at home or I'd post a picture.

Anything to worry about? Has anyone else had anything like this happen?

ok i know anything i say here is gonna be taken with a grain of salt (my rep precedes me lol ) but ......... how old are the cast parts within the motor / water system?.......... this sounds like a piece of casting slag (basically errant metal left over from the casting process) used to encounter it constantly on cheaply made boilers and what not/........... i could be totally off but im just adding my 2 cents with what ive experienced in cast blocks

Nope - not porting. I'm thinking along the lines of scleves on this - looks a bit like casting slag that's worked its way through the system. I must say, my ski ran a lot better with it in there - I bought a restrictor today to try out tomorrow.

Don't restrict it too much if that is part of the cooling water coming from the engine. I am running a third pisser that takes extra water out before it goes into the head pipe. I am also going to replace the locked up adjustment screws on my B pipe head pipe with the Pardaddy large screws so I can heat it up some more.

must be a casting crumb, unless something squeezed through one of the holes when the npt fittings were removed at the factory or otherwise.

Dammit!! I woke up this morning and thought: did I actually type that? :banghead: :banghead: It was one of your funniest posts actually - real, sensible advice on a technical issue. Who'd have thought it?!! :Banane01:

Keith - I'm running separate cooling for the exhaust, so it won't affect the motor. In fact, the motor is running cool, so I'm going to restrict that a little too (carefully!)

This came out of a Factory B Pipe after it's first time out on the lake.
