I cut -2.5 off the bottom of my ski. I just have a stock ride plate on it right now, not D cut or anything. should I also shorten the ride plate flush with the ski or just D cut it?
I would say it depends on your goals. Shortening the plate, and D cutting will greatly relieve nose pressure.
I have an Ocean Pro SN plate we cut even with the back of the hull, and then cut a 6" D into it here for sale, if you want to not cut up your own. $65 + s&h
Here is a link to a picture. Plate is in great shape, just has hard water stains;
Shortening you plate will allow the nose to come up more. If that is your goal I would say go for it. I would cut the plate flush first then if you still want a more nose up ride d cut it.
