Shin Splints after a long day on standup

Anyone ever get shin splints? Solution? :crutches:

I get them after ridding my standup for 6 to 8 hours each day (on weekends in ocean). I don't "work out" in the gym but if I'm not riding my SJ/B1 I'm cycling (MTB). There is little pain but I know its there with evey step I take and it starts to kick in by Tuesday (after ridding on Sunday).

My biggest problem is I want to ride the bike (on weekdays) but I want to recover before more stress.

Grateful for any insight.

I used to get them jogging. What helped me was to take it easy, ease into the exercise, and get used to the physical stress.

Also, take some calcium supplements.

i started to get them when i was wakeboarding several years back. but the ski has never caused them, thankfully. with how prone i am to inflamation type injuries, i'm surprised i havent got them. good luck with it. definitely try to rest it before it gets full blown. i learned that with my tennis elbow ******** last summer. once it gets goin, it's harder to get rid of.

Your shin bones hurt when you put some pressure on them (like walk).
I think they are actual tiny microfractures.

Thankfully it only appears after a long weekend and by Thursday it pretty much goes away.

Sanford...do you have the new 25mm HT underpad? It may help out.
Good point because I know that padding should help lower the shock. After riding my SJ in the same position for years, I'm affraid raising the tray one inch will feel odd. But I think I'll try it..
