SBT/PWCToday - I need to get this off my chest

I've stayed fairly quiet because honestly, PWCToday is SBT's site now, they paid for it, they can run it however they want.

However......

The crap they are pulling (notice I said they, meaning Bryan and Greg) nowadays is just ridiculous, childish, hurting the sport, self-centered, I could go on an on.

The latest is they are STILL READING PM'S. I have proof from 2 instances, of reading mine this past weekend (the gloves are off now Bryan, I know you'll read this and understand where that came from) and of another x-h2o member's just in the past couple of days.

Apparently Bryan finally figured out after over 8 months that I've been pm'ing people on pwctoday about x-h2o. Good job, you're really on the ball Bryan. There is nothing in their rules against that, I have been following their rules pretty easily actually and still posting on tech threads that interest me.

Currently, I am effectively banned from pwctoday, he has me in a usergroup called Miserable Users which basically makes it a PITA the use a board. We have the same thing installed here, and up until the big meltdown/banfest on pwctoday 2 weeks ago, didn't have anyone in that group. During those 2 days, it was obvious Bryan/Greg were banning people based on what they were saying on other boards, including our's, so I put their IP address in that group to block them from reading stuff and banning more members which at the time was only adding fuel to the fire. I hoped it would settle things down, maybe it did, probably didn't, but in the end I forgot about it and left the IP in there, so I guess he took offense.

Instead of contacting me, he put me in Miserable users on their site only after reading one of my pm's last Saturday. He also disabled my pm's.

Today after realizing what was going on, I e-mailed him about it, took their IP out of the group, and within 30 minutes they were on x-h2o again, but never did remove my Miserable user status, so I put their IP back in, along with another I know of. I know that anyone with some internet knowledge can get back in, it's just the principle, plus the fact that Bryan never replies to any e-mails. They do not want a working relationship with any other website, period.

Some other items:
At some point a few months ago, someone on pwctoday changed my signature, I put it back and it has since stayed that way. That's minor.

In the beginning of X-H2o, they pulled some stuff trying to get us shut down, trying to sway tuners over to their board by offering them private forums like Group K and Bill O'neal have, etc etc. It didn't work.

PWCToday is a ghosttown compared to what it used to be regarding technical knowledge. Most of the good posters have either left or are banned for various or no reasons and have moved on to x-h2o, greenhulk.net, go-polaris.net, and the other established boards out there.

I will probably finally get a ban for this post, but I'm effectively banned already so it really doesn't matter. I just have to get this off my chest and move on. If I am banned, it's not because I broke any of their rules, and besides, they don't follow their own rules as was evident by them using old member's id's to discredit javiert.

Some will take this as being negative, and it is somewhat, but I'm also posting because I (along with Harrison) was one of the original people on pwctoday, I was probably admin the longest (other than Rob/Bobbi), did tons of work on the backend after Rob gave up on the sport, I feel like I helped build that site to what it was, and was always in the top 10 posters. I also feel like that site brought the pwc community together like it never had been before, and now the community is spread out again.

Regarding that, we teamed up with Greenhulk.net to try to bring some of the sport back together, and would love to get some of the other sites to form alliances so everyone can keep in touch and share info. Our sport is back on the rise based on 2005's sales numbers, so we need to keep people in touch.

I could go on, but I have a 1 year old crying and ready for a bath.

thanks,

that brings truth and reality to what I have experienced over there.

I am not BANNED, but I cant log in, or browse unless I dont log in, apparantly im in the same user base as they put you.

and yes, Mrs Brian Glynn did that, after a few Pms that we had.

whatever it takes, this site is better, and you are better.

anything I can do here, let me know.

Just so everyone can see, here are the miserable user settings.

Miserable Users
Usergroup id
The usergroup id that you want the miserable users features to apply to. (Normally you would create a new usergroup for this purpose, and enter it's id here). Multiple groups (comma seperated) are allowed.

Server Busy
Percent chance the member will get a server busy message.

Search Disabled
Percent chance that all search facilities will be disabled for member.

Re-Direct
Percent chance member will be re-directed to another page.

Re-direct Destination
The page or url that members will be re-direct to by the above option.

Blank Page
Percent chance the member will simply get a blank page.

Minimum Response Time
The minimum time in seconds before the member gets a page response.

Maximum Response Time
The maximum time in seconds before the member gets a page response.

Flood Time Multiplier
The post flood limit, in seconds, is multiplied by this figure (so if set at the default of 10, the time limit between posts is increased by a factor of 10).

Miserable IP addresses
Enter any ip addresses you want this hack to apply to - one per line. Any member accessing the site with a matching ip address will become 'miserable' no matter what usergroup they are in. Partial ip ranges are possible (do not enter any trailing dots). Use with caution.

Darin,

All I can say is that you must have the patience of a saint, to have made it this long without having to vent about the numbnuts now running PWCTurday.
Thanks for putting this site together and keeping it fun and on track. As far as the other site goes, they have written their own death sentence, even if you only base it on their ethics and the way they treat forum members.
I will probably be in the 'miserable users group' by tomorrow, since about ten minutes before I read your post, I recommended a bunch of folks that had freestyle questions on PWCT to come take a look at the only real site for the riders, by the riders.:woot:

Thanks again bro, for giving us all a place to play when we aren't playing on our skis :Banane01:

Just plain me....
Darin, I know it's been said many times...but those of us here really appreciate the time, effort, work, blood, sweat & tears that has been put into this site by you, Paul & Harrison. We have a unique group of guys & gals here & I hope that it will remain that way. We have had some hiccups along the way, but that is to be expected with blending any new family. I just hope that all members here will take into consideration what has happened on PWC2T and work as equally hard here NOT to let that crap ever, ever be a part of the X. Every ride, event & race I go to, I have a renewed enthusiasm for the sport and the people involved. I feel like I am finally becoming more of a member than a red-headed stepchild.

So with that said, let's all keep what we have going & be able to look back years down the rode & say we were part of a great sport & a great group of people.

given their general attitude over there by some of the named individuals running that site... would you really expect anything less? Pretty funny way to do business if you ask me. Oh well...good luck!

I am trying to stay impratial to the whole thing as i still read pwctoday
and offer some information if i can
This being said it seems that pwctoday is not doing there best to help there site
I still mantain that sbt used to have there own forum if they were on the ball then there forum would have been going well and they would not have had to buy pwctoday
I know people say its just the internet
but the internet is now a big part of peoples lifes
and i have met a lot of riding buddies of these sites
as well as friend in america that i dont know other than talking on here

It took him almost a week to remove my sig over there, ( after he locked me out)

it said : the X is better than here.

loser, sad, sorry, dude, over there, no doubt, ethics out the window.

its sad to me that so many folks over there wont know, and wont see what has gone on.

F em.

I will never EVER say a nice thing about SBT again.

triple secret probation
that good old "frustration hack" is a biotch isn't it

the Universal Ignore List is a handy feature too

I don't know how you have anything here set up - but I think forcing a user to register and log-in to read the boards will cost a few users - but then you can catch Bryan sneaking in here and ban his entire IP.

keep it up Darin and don't let the Bozo get you down :clown:
