RRP with xmetal?

whats up the sleeve, other than the new rrp hull? Brian the RRP steering system is crazy short.Even if used with the bent 3 inch bent back bars I have it would still be close to the same thing you have now

I tried some 7/8 mini moto cross bars on my xmetal turn plate but they are a little to tall I'm looking into some other bars to get less rise. I tried some flat water rolls yesterday and they helped me get lower and get some more leverage to spin quicker.

k-scrab. I have experimented with a very sim setup. While it may look goofy to some at first it makes a huge diff if set up properly.I find I like the zero degree bar setup for everything but surfslashs and re intres. I needed a extra 2 inches or so back to keep the nose from digging in,I flew over the bars and smacked my shins one to many times with the 0 degree bars. But I liked the bars short for stabs, rolls, and such.
The key is to set the bars at aprox 45 deg angle back, this will give you a little extra height on the bars and keep your pole lower without being bent over as far in surfstyle, helps me tons with swiveling the ski and pivoting underneath the center of grav
Just as important, when landing a reintry and trying to get the as far over the back of the ski as poss, when the pole is complety down as it is in most reintry landings,if you are using a min 3.5 inch riser bar set to 45 deg,it will give you almost 2 extra inches back, but when the pole is raised half way to the position you will stab or roll, the angle of pole rising subtracts from the 45 deg pos of the bars, giving you VERY close to a zero degree setup again.

I had the same problem as you with the trim cable hitting the start stop switch,so the trim handle had to be raised way to high to be comfortable to me,So for now I temp ziptied it to the bars. Eventually Im going to get some custom bent. the ideal bar would have a very sharp bend coming out of the clamp and leave a much longer straight sec to fit the trim and start stop and still be not much wider overall than these bars. Most 7/8ths bars come with a sweep back of 1.5 to 2 inches for other aps, this messes up the grip angle and look when set to 45 deg. this is what makes them hard to find.

I looked into the rr steering and bars, but the clamp is WAY shorter than the x metal, thusly it would defeat the purpose of the 3 inch riser bar on the x metal pole.this works ok with the RRP cause you can adjust it for max length to compensate for it. I talked to x metal about producing these 7/8ths bars,to no avail

Thanks for the info It sounds like you have done a little more testing than I have (only rode with my setup twice). If I set my bars back at the 45 degrees it seam like I'm to far back and I cant find the right bend so that I can have the right rise with out having to set myself back so far. It would be nice if a manufacture would make a bar with a 1.5-2.0 inch rise with 0 sweep or pull back in a 7/8 bar so you don't have to sell you xmetal and get an rrp.

Someone will get smart enough to produce this 7/8 bar when they realize it will sell ALOT.In the mean time Im gonna try and have one custom bent.In your case, your pole is prolly longer than mine,if you dont mind blowing big $ on RR stuff, you could go with RR steering bracket and the taper bars that go with it.The idea is to find the right length combination so that a 3 inch or so risor bar set to 45 deg will feel good in your normal standing position. The new RR steering system is at least 2 inches shorter than the short x metal setup
