RRP Billet Pole Spring Install

Hi all,

I'm looking for advice. I bought a Blowsion pole spring from Jetmaniac (https://www.blowsion.com/products/handlepole-controls/pole-brackets-accessories/handle-pole-spring-1). I can't figure out how to install. I put one end into the hole in the pole, and it seems like there is an extra wrap, where I can't get the other end to sit into the machined part on the bracket. I get I have to probably cut the end that's sticking out of the hole in the pole....but I don't understand how the pole bracket end will stay in position? Any advice is much appreciated. I've tried the spring both ways it I can't figure it out.

Thanks,

-Frank

The short end goes into poll end, when the spring starts twisting during install it will get closer to the hole. The long end goes on the spring perch, I think I bent mine sideways a little to land on the perch better. @Jamo07sj might have some other pointers on install

Thanks for the response. Mine isn't even close on the perch. The end is about .5" away. I also don't understand how the short end will fit into the pole. Do you have pictures of your install?

Best to install a new OEM factory spring. With the HD spring the pole will be a catapult and youll fight to keep it down. That plus blowsion springs are trash

keep it simple
i would definitely use the blowsion hd pole spring. you will have to bend it to fit in the spring tensioner and you'll have to cut off some of the excess. it is super compressed so you'll have to fight to get it onto the spring tensioner. the best way to bend the spring is to put it in a vice just at the point where you want to bend it and hit it with a hammer.

get a limiting rope and tighten the pole bolt to the point where the pole doesn't launch up when you let go.

I have both OE and the blowsion, like x2mafia said I ended up going with OE so I wouldn't have to wrestle putting it in, got a shoulder issue.

If you want less tension you can take out some of the bend in the long arm, also you'll need to bend the long arm toward the short arm to get it on the spring tensioner. I've seen these spring cut aluminum poll bolts nearly in half but I think jamo07sj said there not installed correctly maybe he can chime in on that. I use SS bolt...

Here's a few pics of mine, the only diff I found between the 2 spring was the bend in the long arm....

I thought your spring looked a little odd or spread more than mine so took a pic iam 77.82 mm across the arm, kinda hard to measure though.

Took a few to show orientation to the poll

I used a blowsion hd spring on my KP pole and it was too springy. Switched to a stock spring and it’s perfect. I love the blowsion hd springs on stock handlepoles because I don’t have to use a spring tensioner, but on lighter aftermarket poles they’re too strong for my liking. No matter what, you have to cut and bend the springs to get them to fit well. Never simple but that’s the fun, right???

Stock spring and rrp spacer block fixed my blowison spring. Well worth it.

Blowsion spring you need to shorten the long end and sometimes give it a slight bend. You need to keep trying it until the bolt goes through the spring without rubbing, otherwise it will wear out your bolt.

It's worth the effort if you have patience, the blowsion spring is nice and springy I loved it!

On my new build I opted for oem...just went together so much easier, but now not as springy but feels...well feels oem lol

Thanks all for the response. I believe I've figured this one out. I ended up changing to an OEM spring. The blowsion one was way too far off. It seems like my pole is weightless now!

Maybe I'm weird, but the Blowsion spring on my RN has sufficient tension if I just stick the spring into the larger hole in the bracket (where the spring perch is pictured). This matches the OE position of the spring pointing straight down at the hull, and I can't imagine why you'd do anything else. The spring perch was incredibly difficult to install and tensioned the Blowsion spring way too much (it would shoot up to 12:00 position against the stops). Wish I'd have known this before I beat myself up trying to install it. Install with one person was relatively easy. I did have to enlarge the hole in the handle pole end to fit the spring.
