Riva Red/Head Question

Long story short, I got a cylinder and pistons from Paul (thanks again:biggthumpup: ) and due to the porting, the compression is around 140psi per cylinder.

My current setup consists of a riva red pipe with a protec head and factory exhaust bracket.

Obviously I need a new head to bump up the compression. My question is.... if I go to another head design, does anyone have experience mounting the riva red pipe to it? I want to go to a girdled head of some sort. I know everyone's comment will be "Get a B pipe", but that's just not an option right now.

i have a polished riva griddal head with the 3 mounts on top. the domes arent removable. ive been using it for about 3 years with no problems at 185 psi on a ported cylinder and its the head im currently using on my ski that you can see in my custom of the month thread. i would trade this head for a used (or new) ADA.

You can mount the red pipe to a girdled head but you will have to modify the mounting bracket to make it fit. At least that is the experience I had with and ADA girdled head. They sell the mount with their head for the stock style mounts that the red pipe requires. I have one of these just sitting around if you need one. With all of that said, the problem with the red pipe is if you have a port job on your cylinder mouting a pipe of that weight to the head creates another mountain of problems. I tried that setup and the ported cylinder vibrates so much that it stripped all of the bolts out not once but twice. Your best bet for a ported cylinder is a b-pipe. If you want to try the red pipe I will send you the ADA bracket for the cost of shipping. Good luck.:biggthumpup:

At this point I believe CC'ing the head is the only option to get the compression correct. Any idea what your head measures out to?

So that piece uses the existing head bolts and the factory exhaust bracket bolts right to that? I believe the factory bracket would use the center hole on that bracket and then the two bolt holes on the side of the head? Is this correct?
