Anyone ever do the inside of their hull with rhino liner or linex?
i just saw a bmw z3 for sale today that was painted with a bed liner.
Damn that was ugly.
I've been very tempted to use a product called Raptor by UPOL. One of the body shop suppliers around here carry it and had a sample sprayed on a board. It was applied barely thicker than paint and hardly had any texture. I took my keys and couldn't scratch it or chip it or anything. The stuff has to be applied with their gun, but on ebay, you buy a 4 bottle kit and it comes with a gun and enough product to do a few skis.
It mostly comes in black, but you can get tintable, and color match your ski. Seems like the perfect solution for beached skis to me.
lolwat
that stuff is awsome!! use it all the time on cars, bedliners, and anything else around the shop.... but i don't think i want it on my ski.
Why not? Just on the bottom of course, not the whole ski. Hardly much texture, won't effect but maybe the very top end of the speed. Maybe even strain for a smoother texture? IDK?
I've never used the stuff. Just curious about why not? Seems rock hard on the test board, not likely to rub off on the sand and rocks, not to mention the carpeted bunks.
straining will not help... the texture comes from the gun itself, not the product. you could try adding a little reducer to it to thin it out a little and you can change the thickness/texture by changing the length of the gun nozzle. i never tried adding thinner cause i wanted the texture but it should work fine being that the product is urethane-based.
keep in mind though.... this product IS urethane... same as paint, so it WILL scuff and scratch given the right circumstances but can be fixed easily with another coat. this stuff is great for many things but i still have no desire to put any on my ski...to each his own though. hell, try it and let us know what you think.
