Replacing SJ motor Mounts

Don 79 TA

Still Fat....
i want to replace the mounts on my SJ
can i just swap one out at time, loosening the others up?
is there any alignment i need to be aware of?
looks like i need to take the B pipe off to do this?

this is on the 02 SJ

Yes you need to take out the pipe...Don't loosen all the mounts! Just take out 1 at a time. Tighten the wing center bolt first with the same shim(s) that were there and then tighten down the 2 mounting bolts. That's If you had good alignment before....

ok, thanks
i'll give it a shot

i'm going to order a coupler and gaskets for the B pipe so i can replace the mounts
plus going to get another set of engine keepers too
these have been in for a few years now

Do the keepers weaken over time?
mine looked like wear marks in them, so it could be from running a violent stroker and all the jumping i do
at least i haven't broken mounts or anything

my friend broke all 4 of his from one little jump, and he has a stock 01 SJ
so it made me realize i should change mine

although he did not have the engine keepers on at the time
but does now

i'll take some before/after photos

I am not sure I follow. I understand the need/desire for changing the motor mounts as preventive maintenance, but do I understand you correctly that you want to change the Keepers, too?
If so, why?
It's my understanding that wear marks on them are normal - that indicates your engine bed plate hits them occasionally, which is what the Keepers are designed for.
I cannot imagine billet aluminum weakening over time to where you would have to replace them.
If you do, however, I will buy your used Keepers. :)

it's not that they get weakend, they looked a little hammered, so i figured while i was there i might as well replace them

when you step into the stroker league you have to make sure everthing is up to par, or you can wind up in big time $$ repair land

the right side one looks like it's been hit a few times, probably functions just fine, but i'll chalk a new pair up to insurance purposes.

i have motor mounts i bought last year from JrMagoo's
was considering on buying new stock ones to make sure i don't run into any alignment issues.

I agree with ya....you spent thousands on your setup, why skimp on mechanical insurance.

But like I mentioned, I'll take the Keepers and mounts of your hands.
