press one side of the rings in and tight up against the bosses... do one cylinder at a time, and run you finger all the way around and barely slide that one into the cylinder, repeat for the other side.

Exactly like Kennay said,

The bottom of the cylinder should have a big chamfer to help with installing the rings.

Make sure you have the ring gaps lined up with the pins pressed in the ring groove of the piston.

Have had to do it lots of times.
 
Thanks everybody, had to do it by myself - but jury rigged the boat davit to hold it steady while I set it. Went in real easy with your suggestions. The most difficult part probably was dealing with the heat - summer is here in Miami
