Wut....

John at JSS does some pretty fine work. I've used quite a few of his parts. Perhaps you don't understand what a business is?

business (n): the activity of making, buying, or selling goods or providing services in exchange for money

Not to steal any work from John He does fine work, but if you need it now type deal use a 6mm diamond tile drill available at Lowes or Home Depot. Cut the wire off flush and use the drill to drill out the rest of the wire. The tile bit has a hole in the middle that will cut right around the center pin in the CDI. Just cut a little at a time to get to the right depth without going too far. I have the dimensions written down at home but not on me. Insert new wire with some exopy and done

I went to send mine to JSS but they said it was irreparable, so I bought a quality used one and sent it to him for the service (colored sheathing, MSD boots, keepers, and a solid bracket where the wires meet the cdi to prevent future breaking, etc) and in the meantime I performed my own repair on the broken one.. came out great, but have yet to use it...just keeping it as a spare/backup. (my black epoxy job doesn't look as nice as JSS's machined backing plate, etc.)

@tzane when you say buy new, are you referring to aftermarket coils? I was told theyre cheap made stuff and only last year or so. And I was told the reason why people would buy an aftermarket one is because they DONT make NEW/OEM NOS coils anymore...leabing you with the option of a "quality used" one, or an AM one... Do you know where I could find a NEW OEM one? I'd love to buy one so I know it hasn't been worn or hacked...

JSS didn't take mine and determine it wasn't reparable. I sent him a few pics, and then he said no.. After I got the working used one that I sent him for the service back, I realized why he couldn't fix the old one. One of the wires on mine cracked off flush with the coil housing, and then I tugged the other one lightly and it broke in the same place.. It looks like the PO went to put new MSD wires, sheathing, and boots on it, but didn't dig into the potting and get to the contact spikes where you should use a little di electric grease, press the new wires onto the spikes, then epoxy them... instead, he cut the wires of flush with the coil housing, lightly pressed the wires onto a tiny piece of where the old wire was sticking out, then epoxied it. This explained my intermittent spark issues..

I did the repair the "correct" way, and am keeping it as a backup.

Here are some pics of the old Coil. I basically flicked my finger against the wire and it popped off...

yea he didn't test my "old" one and determine it was bad. it was never "tested". he just looked at the nightmare and knew it wasn't worth it.
Here are some pics of the serviced one. it was a "used, working OEM" one that he did the service to.
