Blaster Removing starter from 61x (b1)

I can't for life of me get my starter slid out of my 94 b1. It's a stock 61x exhaust and it's in the way. I have starter unbolted and it's loose. Do i absolutely have to remove my exhaust or should I just keep trying? I really don't want to unless absolutely necessary, don't want to wait for new gaskets wanna ride this weekend!

As long as you have both bolts out it should come out there's a couple o rings on the snout so you may have to stick a pry bar between the starter and the case sometimes the get stucj

The stock exhaust manifold can make it very difficult. The cable post gets hung up.

you should be able to sneak it out of there with the stock exhaust bolted on though. You have to twist the starter a little to clear the positive post like mattE said
