Super Jet Reinforce Superjet Handlepole

Hey Guys,

So I'm looking to reinforce my RN handlepole and convert to breathing through the pole. I'm looking for some tips to help out.

My original plan was cut off the top forging (aka shortening my pole about 1.5") , pull the stryofoam, fab up the tubes in the pole, sand everything down to glass and bare aluminum, epoxy the top of the pole and install the forging, drill out the bottom rivets, then glass/carbon over the entire pole and over the roughed up forgings. The goal being the glass would sandwich the forgings at the top and bottom. Once cured I was contemplating putting rivets through both glass layers and the forgings but im not sure if this is overkill.

Thoughts?

It would probably be in your best interest to fill the pole with two part foam once you install the breather tubes to add as much rigidity as possible. The rest of your plan sounds okay, but why not just buy a new pole?
I would remove both aluminum ends and reinstall them with epoxy, the glue Yamaha uses likes to work loose and could deteriorate your entire assembly if the parts start moving around inside your composite wrap.

I'm assuming you saw this already...

Yes actually that's a buddy of mine lol. I was just curious of any other ideas people might have. Im trying to avoid buying a pole as I've sunk so much money into my ski I don't want to drop another $500-1000.
