my ski has been out of commission for 2 weeks with electrical probs, so i decided to go ahead and get a ported 701 and some other goodies to upgrade. while waiting i decided to give it a rattle can paint job, nothing fancy. this is after sanding with 220 grit on rough spots then 400 wet sand the whole thing, then first primer coat, its still wet in the pics, but im seriously contemplating wet sanding with 600 grit and doing multiple coats of the primer and leaving it. my original plan was flat black or semi gloss black any input on colors?? the original color is in my avatar

Don't leave it just primered. The primer is really soft (Especially spray paint primer) and it will scratch up if you dropped a penny on it just about.

i just finished the second coat of primer, it looks ALOT better but is too dark for pics. I will wet sand it tomorrow after work and hit it with either a similar gray or a flat black unless there are other better looking suggestions

you cold do a candy apple with any color base, first paint your color of choise the use a clear with a tint .
so if you use white base use a contrasting color like red yellow even black, blue etc. you can apply 2 lights coat all over then one more for the top to make it stand out. or even put small flack into coat #2 or the clear for more shine.
also consider somoe psonsons for the front.
I'm still running the promo on them also I still have the new freestyle nose and hood set.

well........ i think i phucked up. I sanded the primer with 800 then 1200 and began putting coats of black duplicolor. Basically 1 can gave one good coat to the whole ski, i used 4, prob my first mistake. after 4 cans the color was still very dull and almost looked like the primer, not black. little did i know that the clear coat brought out the dark color (i found out later on the hood) so i went to get more, there was no more so i bought rustolium car paint. I put one coat and it immediately was black, the paint was MUCH thicker and it didnt take but 1/4 to 1/3 of a can to cover the whole ski. The problem is that there is now orange peel all over, i assume it has something to do with how thick the paint is, anyway i left it alone for the night hoping that tomorrow it will look somewhat better when dry. If i were to wetsand it tomorrow with 1200 then clear it is there a good chance that i can save it from having that gritty look? (it didnt have it before the rustolium)
