Surfriding Rebuild stock motor mounts

I've been searching for this on the X but I don't think it's been talked about. It seems in the automotive industry home DIYers have been rebuilding car motor mounts with 3m window weld urithane. Just wondering if anyone on here has done this? Or even thought about it as a "budget" fix?

Yep I didn't read through all 9 pages (I will tonight) and cold fusion makes some urithane mounts as well. I know " company's" are making them. A lot of people on here DIY ( foot holds, handle pole, porting, ect). Just wondering if any one has attempted to rebuild their own mounts to save $. I'm thinking I may give it a try if no one else has.

Not that I don't want you to test out that theory and see if they are repairable but the cheapest and easiest solution is to find a set of GP800 mounts. Guys sell them off cheap for some reason ($40 a set) while the puny superjet ones still net full price. The GP800 mounts are about as solid as you can get and $40 is an absolute steal.

I trashed a couple different sets of mounts in my old ski and went with a set of GP800 mounts when I transferred everything over to my new Hull and they are still just as solid after 3 seasons of surf riding. I even have a set of Cold Fusion mounts sitting on the shelf but now I want to see how long the GP mounts will last.

X2 many guys have started running GP mounts...they are holding up better than SJ mounts.

Don't the gp mounts need to be machined?

You can have them machined or just slot the mounting holes. I opened mine up with a dremel tool in under 1/2 hour. The added bonus is that you never have to run shims again. Just slot the bases, bolt them in and then shift the mounts in/out to achieve the proper engine alignment. when you are done, just crank them down tight.

I just picked up some GP mounts, do you have any pics or description on how your opening them up? I just want a "good n fuzzy" before I go cutting out material lol.
