to remove the old vinyl just use a small flathead screwdriver and needle nose pliers to pull the staples out. For HT'n, I would glue a piece on larger than what the pad support is and cut it after it dries. This way you have nice lines as long as you use a sharp blade and keep a steady hand/angle going around the pad.
I just re-vinyled mine for 4 bucks and have plently left over because the scraps of turf I had around weren't big enough, if you do this I recommend to start where the curve is for the handle bars is. I didn't and have a few ripples because it was a bitch to stretch them all out.
It's only temp until I order some more sheets of turf and I think I'll be using the under padding on the chin pad and shaping it down so I still have some kind of cushion.
