I am going to be installing my westcoast head and R&D girdle kit on my SJ soon but need to know where to get some hardware or what hardware to get. I have what seemed like all the bolts EXCEPT the girdle bolts that go down into the case are not long enough to reach. Is there some studs with threads on top that I need to buy to put in the case for these bolts to thread into? Also does anybody know if the westcoast head uses a stock gasket?

I am on ADA's website and they have 10x190.5mm girdle studs, are these what I need? There is no picture so my question is, do the bolts that go through the flanges on the girdle kit and into the lower case, do they go straight into the case or is there a stud that has male threads into the case with female threads on top for the bolt described to thread into?

Also my head and girdle kit use socket head cap screws for the hardware, if that makes a difference it looks like the regular girdle kits use a stud that is threaded at both ends and you would use a jam nut to tighten them down.

Those acorn nuts do no look like they will work for my application, the girdle kit is counterbored for the SHCS.

the riva kit is a little better i think, it has studs that go into the cases and then a threaded collar goes on top of that and tightens down on the cylinder, then the long girdle bolts bolt up that that.

this way when you remove your head the cylinder won't move.

Ahh, the girdle kit from ADA is 6 stainless steel studs male thread on both ends. One end threads into the case, the other end comes through your head and is fastened with acorn nuts.

I agree with this though but it seems more people like ada better.

Thanks, I sent him a PM. Hopefully we can get this figured out. Anybody know if the westcoast head uses the stock gasket?

THe west coast head does not use a stock gasket, it uses a metal gasket, that is enlarged holes so the domes sit on the cyl sleeves & that is sealed by o-rings.
I could be mistaken, but I don't belive any other girdle hardware will work on that head but WC. You can always machine the head shell to accept others hardware.
West coast stopped making watercraft parts some time ago. getting parts is already hard. you might want to think about getting a newer style head?
