Other Quick Foothold Foam Question

Location

So I ordered some EME footholds (just picked some, heard good things about them, don't care what you think) today to replace my foot straps. Just wondering: you put foam (from walmart I hear) in the foot holds and then turf over that? Do you put the foam on the top and bottom of the footholds? And what is the point of this? Is it so you can lock your foot in there (the foam compressing to squish your foot)? And if so, wouldn't the foam get permanently formed (compressed) to your foot so that it would seem non-existent and not lock your foot in? Just curious.

Thanks.

Glass in the footholds, drill a hole in the holds, pour in 2 part mixing foam and put pressure over the hole to let the foam expand. The foam helps to support the footholds.

So there's no foam in the foot trays? How do your feet lock in then? They just get squished into the holds? I guess I've been totally confused about how this works.

Sounds like you're confused. Once you're finished with the foot holds, you have to turf your tray. Many people add a few layers of padding to the top of their footholds, so that they can kick their feet in and get a good lock.

like DK said, turf the bottom of your footholds just like your turfing the entire tray area. Then, if you like, add a couple layers of pad on the top of your footholds, so that you will be locked in once you kick in.
