Surfriding Questions about resin dye

Taking to long to search what I need so I'm just gonna ask.

I'm getting my hood mod done as soon as the weather breaks and I want to dye the reinforcement I'm doing on the sides.

The inside of the square nose hood is very dark. Should I use dye in multiple layers or just the final? I want an opaque white.

I plan on doing a small build up of reinforcement in the curve of the sides where there is a lot of flex before 2 final large layers. I was thinking about dying this build up to an opaque blue and then a translucent white dye on the final layers covering it all, just to get creative.

Is that a bad idea? If I attempt it should I let the build up layers cure before the final layer?

Can you dye epoxy thickened with cabisol or any other thickeners?

I would dye the last layer personaly, adding dye can make it hard to see if your layup is fully wet out and free of air bubbles. Never tried it in cabosil, give it a whirl and let us know!

Yes, you can dye thickened epoxy. I dyed my West g systems black with pigment from us composites.

Dye is not UV resistant. White glass will turn yellow. I wouldn't waste my time with dye unless I was doing it in the engine compartment. At least not white dye. I haven't tried a dark dye like blue on a hull that is going to be painted that color, but it could minimize the obviousness of scratches.

Well, I'll probably use dye again because that's just the way I am. I would be willing to use it because it's cheap and I like to experiment.

I don't even have a picture or even know if I'm going to use any dye yet. I'm just trying to gather information about it's behavior working with it and it's appearances after setting, so I do appreciate the input.
