I've bought a new MSD total loss ignition and will not use it right now since I just installed the ATP flame system and love it. So is it ok to keep the MSD in a box for, let's say, a year or two before using it? I'm afraid the parts inside such as some electronic chips will dry out or something??

If it was used I would be careful but since it is new you should be okay.
Last year I bought a used ignition but didn't get around to installing it for several months. When I finally installed it I found it to be dead. I sent it back for repair and was told that it failed due to corrosion from water intrusion. The guy I bought it off swears it was running when he sold it to me but I have no way to prove otherwise. Now I test all electronics on receival regardless of when I intend to use it.
