ok so i bought my square about a month or so ago. pretty much everything i want done to it at this point is done. sitting around last week i was thinking of what else it was i wanted to do and decided i wanted to put on a freestyle pump cone and have my nozzle bored to get that little extra out of her. ordered a new jre pump cone and went to put it in. that's when i noticed that on my old squarenose pump the stock cone has the three bolts on the outside that holds it on, but it also has one right in the middle of the pump cone...i have not torn it apart yet to have a look but am i able to just ignore the center bolt and put it on anyway with the 3 outside ones. or am i screwed cause my pump needs to have the center bolt in the cone for some reason?

Just taper bore the nozzle and forget the shorter pump cone because most people switch back to the stock one anyway after trying them.

Also the bolt on the center is just a drain that comes on the older aluminum cones.

It depends on your overall setup but most people use between 84mm to 86.5mm for your typical freestyle ski with the stock size being 82.3mm in diameter.

If you need your nozzle taper bored just let me know.

The center bolt on the stock cone is for grease.

When I ran a stock pump with a stock reduction nozzle (not bored), I found the stock cone to work better than the stubby freestyle cone. With the stubby cone, the setup ran out of steam in the midrange. The stock cone had the same bottom end and kept on pulling a bit more mid and top.

On my mag pump I played with different nozzle sizes and found a smaller nozzle (82.6) to work a lot better all around than a bored nozzle (84).

Just my experiences, your mileage may vary.

By the way, I am not saying my results are in any way applicable to anyone else. I would implore you to play with different nozzle sizes and pump cones to find what does work best for your setup.
