My question is how many of you have done your own impeller pitch changes ,and is something that is better off left to the professionals or is it something that with the proper technics can be done yourself with good results ? For those of you with experience with this process please share your technics, what were your results ? Is it necessary for a balancing after such changes .

Easy and straight forward if you can grasp which way to bend it. I use a vice and a cut drive shaft and haven't balanced. There's so much turbulence going on in the pump, I can see where a slight weight offset would make a difference. Now if I ever get time to start welding prop ODs, I'll see how far off the balance is...

Isn't there a tool for checking pitch? A round piece of paper with lines on it that you can put the impeller inside and see the pitch?

Thanks Dag ! There is some really useful info in that read . Time to start getting the pieces for my prop holder .so like 2 degrees of bend is is the most you want to go in either direction safely being careful not to put flat bends on the prop ,keep the transition smooth is key and this is on a prop that hasn't ever been re - pitched ,is what i'm hearing.

It would be hard to f'it up do bad that impros couldn't fix it. No reason not to try. $15 guage and a crescent wrench and you are set for tuning at the boat ramp

That my friend just got you a "like" !

Where is it?^

I remember reading a good thread about prop tuning last year, that would be great to make changes on the fly to see what works! I heard your newest prop made a solid difference this last weekend.
