typically the rubber isolators wear out due to vibration. the person probably never cared to check on it and replace them. so it vibrated away and became thin, also it could have been beat to death depending on how they rode. It
usually can be welded and fixed. the pipe is a cast aluminum peice, it will have to be removed and prepped for a good weld. it may be worth saving. also FYI protec pipe contrary to some peoples beliefs , DO NOT bolt up to the stock 6m6 or 61x head. the mount and holes are close but not designed to, if you have a protec head already, then it will bolt right up. I have seen this and was told this by protec long ago. Is this the pipe you have?
