Powder coating ???

Boris

The Good Old Days
I'm thinking of getting my motor blasted and powder coated.
The factory finish is lifting due to corrosion so I know something has to be done.

I guess I can strip it my self and paint it with rattle cans but fresh powder would look so much nicer.
Just imagine a nice Yamaha blue 62T topped off with a polished head and pipe.

So has anyone ever done this and how much did it cost ?

I would worry about warpage on the cases. They have to be subjected to 450 degrees. I would just do the exhaust in powdercoat and the rest in paint.

brraap....thats so 2002
i have a guy that builds marine race motors for boats and while he was ceramic coteing a couple of pipes for me i asked him about powder coating the engine and he said not to do it but rather find a nice epoxy paint for it. evedently the powdercoating will not allow the motor to disapate heat as well. theresa company call VH-T they make a brake caliper paint that works real well and it cemical resitant.

I asked Paul about doing the same thing - he recomends a good marine primer. It comes in either green or yellow, West Marine sells it. Probably can get it elsewhere too

then use PJ1 engine & case paint for the top coat.
