sometimes the header at the top says new posts and sometimes it says todays post, whats the difference, i cant seem to get it to say todays posts sometimes

if you click the quicklinks menu option, it has the todays post option in the drop down area.

the only difference is, the new posts only shows new posts and thats it. todays posts shows the new posts in bold and older posts in non bold.
