Other possible to small return jet 60 for twin 48s?

im using a 60 return jet for a set of fs 48s with a external fuel pump, if the jet were to small or had a tiny bit of trash in it and the fuel pressure were to high, can someone give me the symptoms the motor would experience, wana see if it sounds like what the motor is currently doing....poorly

Did you buy the carbs new? I found out that not all Novi's have the drilled out return line orifice. I ran a 60 main yet and it was too small, I ended up with no jet in the return line. It's been about 1.5 years since I figured this out but I think my ski seemed to run OK with the main jet in the return just weaker than it should have been. It was rich and seemed like the longer I held the throttle the richer it got? Been too long to accurately report.

Im pretty sure these older ful spec carbs do have the returns drilled, ive never looked,it ran great before, but a had a cheap napa fuel filter i never should of used on there,it had metal top and bottom and the filter media broke loose from the bottom and sent the sediment through the carbs. I took them apart and blew them out, didnt find much in there, some rusty crap in the external fuel filter, nothing in the internal filters in the carbs to speak of, could there be stuff traped in the internal circuitry that wont blow out

found the issue, even though I had taken apart the external fuel pump and carbs and cleaned them perfect as well as cleaning out the 60 return jet, after i put them back on the tinyest piece of trash I have ever seen got caught in the fuel return jet and was giving the oddest symptoms i have ever seen on a ski,it was hard to tell if it was fuel or ign. pulled the return jet and let fuel cycle through the pump and carbs back into the tank.the ski ran perfect, makes me wonder how necessary the jet size is to have and what fuel pressure is achieved, the return line was pissing like unreal though. might make another post about fuel pressure,it is the more important question

Fuel pressure makes a huge difference. I went through this tuning a first gen Riva Powerbomb

oh good grief I bet you did with that carb,I found that thing the most difficult to tune ive ever worked on.post your findings with fuel pressure in the other thread I just started,I might experiment with it a little bit,Im getting the worst gas run time out of this setup ive ever tried.something has to help somewhere, even if I have to lose a little power to do it
