Port Matching : Better to fall off a Cliff than to Hit a Wall?

Does this still hold true for mismatched Exhaust Manifold and Cylinder Exhaust Ports?

While pondering if I should grind my Factory Pipe 61X Exhaust Manifold to match the 760 64X Cylinder Exhaust Ports, I remembered that saying.

Then bumped into some Facebook talk about better performance from a Roof and Floor Step with only the Sides matched: https://www.facebook.com/groups/671081149638729/

Why leave that area you’ve marked? For velocity and for reversion.
You’ll find that this small lip will take heat off the piston where a fully matched flange will not.
MSV racing now prepares the flange seen in the picture you’ve shared, he also makes one with the low ceiling of use on an unmodified cylinder. It will gain that velocity but does not have the heat wave barrier effect."

To blend or not to blend...Leave it! Match it! Send it!
Any opinions?
