Other Parts scrounging ..... scott spark jr 20 build

Well I think I'm going to do a build on one of the little Scott spark 20s . Friday night (in the cover of darkness) I pretty much disassembled the whole freekin bike and weighed the parts

Forks 4.2 lbs

Cranks rings 1.6 lbs

Rear shock 11.6 oz

Ft wheel with tire 3.0 lbs

Rear 3.5 lbs

etc.

I started digging around in my "old " parts bucket . had an old carbon seat post , some white industry hubs , top line cranks etc.

What do you guys have ? any old take off avid cable disk , lx or xt Disc hubs , crashed out carbon bars , med cage rear 9 speed , rings , cog sets .... what ever

I'm defiantly changing them to a single ring 1x8 or 1x9 and going with a 34 or 36 in the rear .

When your loaded on Scotch ............ WEIGHING KIDS BIKE PARTS ! it makes a man think ......... WTF AM I DOING ! Luckily I found a site that takes all the thinking out of it. www.weightweenies.starbike.com .

I know everyone has been on pins and needles waiting for my next post concerning this matter. These are great little bikes and really don't need much . I may change out the cranks to a single and go 12x32 in the rear. Very satisfied with my choice.... I mean Santa's choice.

we are still on 20's ..... sit tight and don't do anything drastic because they are growing . These sparks are great bikes .... a little heavy but the suspension really works . Very satisfied with my choice BK
