Surfriding Panama City Beach race recap

Panama City Beach

It was absolutely perfect weather all weekend with light winds and temperatures in the upper 80's. The surf was clean with 1-2' rollers which allowed for a larger and more technical course compared to a typical surf course. For the first round of the tour, the racer turnout was strong.

For me the above was much better than my race results. Finishing 2nd and 5th in stock ski and Gp ski respectively was a little disappointing for me but at the same time it has motivated me for round two in Montgomery, AL this weekend! Although on a positive note, for the first time in the deep fine sand of PCB, I didn't have to keep taking of my shoes between motos to empty the sand out thanks to the Jettribe race socks with a second layer that folds down over the race shoes completely eliminating any possibility of sand getting in.

With the week off from work between races, we plan on rolling into Montgomery sometime Wednesday which will leave Thursday and Friday to test on the river and work out the issues from last weekend. If this coming weekend has the same kind of turnout as last weekend, the 2012 UWP tour is going to be a good one!

2'......wow

depending on who's calling the size, 2' can be pretty decent. especially for that area. a 2' clean ground swell in the panhandle would be one of their better days of the summer i would imagine.

our surf reports call a waist to chest high face 2'

i know it's not west coast sized waves but ....
