Super Jet Paint thinner used to remove turf

I am getting ready to install foothold and turf into my ski.

I read on here to use acetone to remove the old turf adhesive. I didnt have any in the garage so I used paint thinner. I thought paint thinner was similar to acetone..... but now I learned otherwise.


Should I be safe? Paint thinner wont mess up fiberglass will it? Should I wipe it with something else?

It didnt work all that great for removing adhesive..... mostly elbow grease did the trick. :wink:

I use a product from Dupont. It is an older paint reducer called 3812. You can get it in 5 gallon or gallon cans maybe even quarts if you ask at the counter. We use it here at work everyday strictly for adhesive removal. Works great and is not as rough on the surface a actuall paint thinner/ laquer thinner. Spray it on, let it soak for a few minutes and start wiping or scraping the turf glue off. Works great on graphics as well.

no paint thinner isnt going to hurt it youre not even to exposed glass anyways
